File associations and RATS autostart
Hi Tom,
When I first installed RATS, it created a folder with shortcuts on my desktop. I didn't need that folder so I deleted it. Now, every time I want to start an .RPF file with RATS directly by clicking on it (with RATS not opened when I do that), it says RATS needs to be configured first, and then places the shortcuts folder again on my desktop. If I leave that folder in place, file associations work just fine and RATS starts without any problems when I click on RPF files.
Can you please explain what is going on, and how should I remove the problem?
Thanks,
Marin

Re: File associations and RATS autostart
I believe that's the automatic repair behavior of the Windows installer, which is generally designed to repair/reinstall pieces that get deleted accidentally. If it's a major issue for you, contact us at support@estima.com and I'll see if I can set up a custom installer for you that makes those pieces optional.

Re: File associations and RATS autostart
What confuses me is that when I try to reinstall RATS and uncheck the "Desktop" option as can be seen in attached snapshot, a folder with shortcuts is still created in Desktop. Is this an error that is due to my OS? What I am trying to say is that I believe that optionality is embedded in RATS installer, no further customization is needed - I just needed it to work as designed.

Sorry, by "optional" I meant "not subject to auto-repair" if you decide to delete them after the fact.
If you turn off the Desktop option on that screen when installing the software, then no, it shouldn't try to create the desktop icons.
Please email at support@estima.com with your serial number and the specific version number of what you are installing, and I'll see if I can figure out what is happening.
Thanks,
